[ It's been so long since he experienced a pleasant dream. Honestly, he assumed it was too good to be true. Some kind of magical influence of the world that he's now trapped in.
He's always starting out in a nice living room, surrounded by faceless people. In spite of them being without faces, the atmosphere is happy. There's a woman and two men - one of the men is significantly older than the other two adults.
Zaen is six.
He's a child who's full of pranks. He's smiling, laughing... The two younger adults are chasing after him, but neither seem particularly upset that he'd snuck a frog into the older man's pocket.
Flashing forward, it's another day.
He's still just a child who's full of pranks, but he's sitting at a table this time. There's more laughter. They're eating breakfast together.
Flashing forward, it's nighttime. He's outside catching lightning bugs. He trips and falls, skinning his knee. It hurts but he's a big boy. His vision is a tiny bit blurry as the woman rushes over and picks him up. She kisses his cheek. ]
[ By the third night, he's starting to lower his guard against it. Go figure the timing would line up this way.
He slides a hand through his hair, giving the stranger a curious look. ]
How's it going? If I knew I was having guest over, I would've cleaned the place up a bit.
[ Guess they could move forward...
Aiden will shrug a shoulder after a couple of seconds. ]
Welp... let's get the show on the road.
Falling Down the Stairs cw of childhood trauma involving: death, torture, someone being burned alive, murder by hanging...
[ And of course the good times never last...
Just like before, it's the faceless people, but there's a significant tension in the air. Something is wrong, but none of the adults are explaining anything.
Zaen is six and afraid.
The younger man and woman are harshly whispering to one another. Their voices are painful to listen to. The only words he can make out are them saying they need to send him away.
He doesn't want to be sent away. He wants to know why everyone is so upset. Was it him? Did he do something wrong?
Zaen runs away.
Flashing forward, he's being chased by a group of five people - people who each have wolf-like ears and a tail...
Flashing forward, Zaen is fighting against some man - a man who doesn't have ears or a tail. The man is yelling that it's okay - he's here to help. There are people fending off the wolf-like people.
The faceless woman is hanging lifelessly by her neck, her body covered in gashes and bite marks. The faceless man is chained to a chair. Some of the wolf-like people are laughing and taunting the faceless man as he begs, "Just let Zaen go!"
Flashing forward, the faceless man is on fire, screaming in pain.
Zaen is screaming in horror.
The man who was holding Zaen is dragging him away. The wolf-like people are scattering as the human people fight to drive them away.
Everything goes black. ]
[ This time, Aiden is going to be found staring at the floor. For several minutes, he'll seem like he can't even see another person. He doesn't want to move forward.
It will take some serious convincing to get him to go face that dream again. ]
Seriously, fuck this.
