[Diana remembers the awe she'd felt every time she watched the Amazon legion train as a child. They were invincible to her, nothing could defeat them. She'd wanted nothing more than to be one of them--but yes, her mother had denied her the chance for so long. You are a child she would say, tucking her daughter into bed. There is no need for you to fight.

But her drive had been too great, and her mother had not been able to stop her from sneaking away to train with Antiope. It had been her only choice. A scorpion must sting, a wolf must hunt. An Amazon must fight.

The girl does not look so out of place on Themyscira. Perhaps it is because Diana was a child once, unlike her mother and sisters, who had risen from the ocean fully formed. She understands what it is like to see these women from a child's perspective, to admire and even revere them. Still, she thinks on it for a moment before answer.]

She wanted to protect me, as all mothers do their children.

[Diana doesn't know if she'll ever have children of her own, but if she does, she wonders if she would be as selfish as her own mother. A proud smile finds her lips, and she gestures to herself: armor shining, shield at her back, lasso at her hip.]

But I did not listen to her, and I learned anyway. Eventually she gave her blessing, and I joined my sisters in the legion.
